Solar Panel and Arch before the platform and step were fitted - Picture by author

We are amazed at how effective and efficient our solar panels are. Here we are in early March and we have lived 60 hours with heating, lighting, refrigeration, water pumps and charging electronics and we are still at 80% battery charge! Our pontoon has no electricity at the moment due to the marina up grading their pontoon electricity supply. We were offered a different pontoon during these times but choose to stay put. Our decision was based off wanting to work the batteries a little and getting ourselves back into the mentality of being self sufficient again.

Thankfully all our lights are leds and Gary today changed the TV from 240 volt to 12 volt supply, a job that would have been done at sea if we had not choosen the option to stay put. So my friends will be pleased to read that ......i WILL be able to watch the Voice tonight without putting the inverter on!

However, this choice made me realise how territorial you get on your berth/mooring, even though we set sail to be a couple who had no constant residential environment. I suppose we are all brought up to feel safe with that we know.
