Not Working is Hard! Ep 47

I have been absent for a little while on my blog but for no other reason than I have said yes to everything and therefore been super busy.

In 2020 we embarked on a mission to simplify our lives, strip back the corporate lifestyle and step off the merry-go-round. I promised my husband that I would stop, relax and be still for a while. Changing my workaholic mindset and just sailing was a massive challenge for me and quite frankly " not working is hard". However, guess what, it nearly killed me but I did it but that was so last year and now the chains are off.

Keeping the balance of work and play is however incredibly important to me now. My daily routine of writing a 'to do list' still features most days but it is now much shorter and varied these days. I surprised myself the other day when I read one back from the previous week, it included things like walk, charge camera, make soup, invoice client, call a friend, make time for smiles, listen to podcast, coaching call, design a workshop. So much more balanced than years gone by, it actually features me first, now that is a break through! Although walking is at the top of the list I still do it last but it being on the list at all is a start.

This spring I have stepping back into the corporate world to work with Future Leaders and I have to say I love it. That married with coaching clients and running Clarity4D workshops my life is complete again. So where is the balance, 'you are slipping right back' I hear you say! Well there is no fear of that, Kerrera keeps me safe as this new found lifestyle is highly addictive.

My play time is centered around community, friendship and opening my eyes to nature. Most of our life is spent chasing false goals and worshipping false ideals. The day you realise that is the day you really start to live.

Here are some of 2022 playtime highlights so far -

The Waypoint Shenanigans

Wild Swimming in April - Brrrr!

After work Speedboat ride to Loch Spelve with the Kerrera Marina Tribe

Lambing 2022 - I helped this orphan lamb find a new mummy!

Visiting friends in my old home town and villages

I also managed to visit the Story Tribe and two more dear friends Fi and Cherry. However, I forgot to take reunion pics - next time we meet we will not be so camera shy.

No visit home to Cumbria is complete without meeting up with this motley crew!

I even managed to share champagne and carrots with Helen, my dear friend, Trainer and Owner of this cheeky dude - Joshua R. So proud of her, this was her first win as a public trainer.

Painting tables and more madness with Tracy

Walking Kerrera and admiring the view is my favourite play time.

Finally, a little bit of luxury after designing and facilitating a Graduate Assessment Day for AmcoGiffen. Such a treat and a massive shout out to the AmcoGiffen team, as it is an absolute privilege to be able to work along side you. It was so nice to have a bedroom bigger than a a postage stamp but I would not swap my life on the ocean waves for the world even if it does mean having a bedroom no bigger than the bed its self.

My last thought for today ......A wave of wisdom

If there is one thing I have learnt, it is life is what you make it. I choose to surround myself with positive people, those who are creative, open minded, mature, kind and driven. My equilibrium is maintained when I reduce the toxins in my life, not the chemical sort although that would help too but the toxic negative and over bearing type of people. This is because one group is going to pull me and help me development forward, whereas the other group will hold me back. That’s not to say. I have to avoid these people entirely, I just have to reduce my exposure to them. I have come to realise that my friends are like my board of directors in life, they all bring a different perspective and together we keep each other safe in our quest for living life to the full.

Until the next time my friends

Lots of love xxxx
